White Lies say "Satan would frown on" their sense of humor.

The 'To Lose My Life' rockers are presently in the studio recording their second album and said they have steadily been getting more and more twisted in their humor as they come up with ideas for their new songs.

Bass player Charles Cave said: "Our sense of humor has deteriorated to a point that Satan would frown on.

"It's like being in the sea. Our producer was shocked. There was a whiteboard in the studio where the drawings got more and more disturbed and depraved."

The group - which also includes Harry McVeigh and Jack Lawrence-Brown - said their record label was also shocked at their new song ideas - and thought their ideas for possible singles were "insane."

Charles added to NME magazine: "Harry and I would send the demos to the label going, 'Single?' and they'd go, 'No, are you insane?' for a long time I thought we had made an album of quite inaccessible music.

"Nobody had given the thumbs-up that this was going to be commercially appealing."
