Wavves Completes 3rd LP Minus Future Meltdown?
Nathan Williams of the Cali noise-pop outfit Wavves confirmed via blog this weekend that the band's third LP is complete and that they're currently mixing it. After expressing his excitement over playing the High Tone in Memphis (since they can smoke pot in the venue's kitchen), he wrote, "SOUNDS CARAAAZAAAAAAYYY AND WILL BE OUT THIS SUMMER. SEEEEEE YA!"
Wavves was riding quite a wave last spring and summer until they literally crashed and burned on-stage in May '09 at the Primavera Sound Festival in Barcelona, Spain. Pitchfork does a swell job of describing just exactly what did go down during that infamous performance, and, honestly, I am not in the least bit surprised by their childish behavior - mostly due to the fact that Roxwel interviewed Nathan during SXSW '08. And let's just say that his indie-rock hipster pretension was in full effect. Sunglasses - check. Never look at the camera - check check. Talk with snarly upper lip - check trifecta.
