Austin's very own psychedelic rockers The Black Angels got their network television debut last night on the Late Show with David Letterman, performing "Telephone" from their forthcoming album release, Phosphene Dream (available 9/14).  During the performance, I was waiting on singer Alex Mass to don the monster mask hanging from his mic stand, but, alas, he simply pleased the audience with his vocals, almost transcendent from the late '60s/early '70s.  Guitarist Christian Bland's t-shirt for The Shed BBQ in Austin got a shout out from Letterman himself and defintely peaked my interest in seeking this elusive trailer park eatery out.  The segment ended with Paul Shaffer playing "Telephone" as the show's outro.

Kudos to The Black Angels, who are soon to hit the European tour circuit until October 10.
