Social networks are on the uprise! Fans are no longer going to their local music store or MTV to find their music. There going to places like Myspace.com and Tagworld.com. Major labels are now tapping into this crazy social scene to find new talent. Last month Interscope records held a contest on Myspace. The winner got to preform at the Vanguard in LA, and there single would be featured in new "Scarface" video game.
The Chicago based group, Kazy, won the contest and since has been featured in Billboard magazine and offered large venue shows. Kazy has not converted their success into a label deal yet. Kazy says he'll evaluate the impact of his contest prize once the "Scarface" game hits stores in the third quarter of this year. Not a bad gig for a new band that ten years ago would of had to create a buzz the old fashion way.
