Austin City Limits Festival has quickly become one of the premier festivals in the United States along side Coachella, Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, and Jazz Fest. ACL, as people like to refer to it, grew out of the original series Austin City Limits which began in 1974 at the University of Texas in Austin and was later picked up by PBS.

Austin City Limits has diversified itself from the other major US festivals by bringing more folkcentric artists like this years headliners Tom Petty and Van Morrison. ACL has also taken the Lollapalooza approach in helping launch up and coming stars. A few predictions to keep an eye on...Ghostland Observatory and The White Ghost Shivers.

The first day of this 3 day festival is quickly shaping up to be one for the books. Gnarles Barkley, John Mayer, Thievery Coorporation, Van Morrison, The Tragically Hip, Gomez, Wolf Parade and Los Lonely Boys lead the pack for Day 1.
