Lallapalooza 2006 Out Does Itself
Perry Ferrell's Lollapalooza, in Chicago's Grant Park, blew 166,000 people away this year! The music festival went on from August 4-6 with the Red Hot Chili Peppers closing the show Sunday night. This was the second year Lollapalooza was a one stop festival and grossed $8 million in ticket sales.
Farrell established Lollapalooza in 1990 as a farewell to Janes Addiction. Lollapalooza ran until 1997 touring the country. The loss of ticket sales and finding a headliner brought the tour to a halt. In 2003 Capital Sports and Entertainment joined forces with Charles Attal and produced the 2005 Lollapalooza in two days, 60,000 fans, and 70 bands.
With a great city and great bands next years Lollapalooza is expected to even out due this year's festival. Roxwel is excited to be a part of this years Lollapalooza getting the chance to interview some of the phenomenal bands that performed. Look for upcoming artist commentaries on Roxwel!
