    Kesha took home the award for Best New Act at the MTV European Music Awards (EMAs) last night (11/7/2010).

    The 'Tik Tok' singer was thrilled with her prize but Lady Gaga was the big winner receiving an impressive three trophies at the prestigious ceremony, including Best Pop, Best Female and Best Song for 'Bad Romance'.

    Gaga - who was nominated for five accolades - did not attend the ceremony but accepted her statuettes via satellite from Budapest where she was performing on her smash hit 'Monster Ball Tour'.

    Eva Longoria Parker hosted the ceremony at the Caja Magica in Madrid, Spain, while Justin Bieber hosted the online coverage of the event.

    Bieber picked up two awards, Best Push Artist and the much sought after Best Male gong, beating Eminem, Usher, Enrique Iglesias and Kanye West.

    Katy Perry - who picked up the accolade for Best Video for 'California Gurls' - and her new husband Russell Brand made their first official appearance as a married couple following their wedding in India last month.

    Other winners on the night included Thirty Seconds to Mars who got the Best Rock prize, Best Hip-Hop went to Eminem, Paramore were victorious in the Best Alternative category, while Linkin Park were named Best Live Act.

    Colombian singer Shakira was presented with the Free Your Mind award in recognition of her charity work and commitment and dedication to making education accessible for children around the world.

    Performances on the night came from Shakira, featuring a guest appearance by British rapper Dizzee Rascal, Rihanna, Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry and Linkin Park.

    The 2010 awards closed with a rock medley from inaugural MTV EMA Global Icons Bon Jovi, featuring a trio of hits including their most recent hit single 'What Do You Got?' along with 'You Give Love A Bad Name' and 'It's My Life'.
