Is your broadband ready for this?

I remember being one of the first people in Austin to get a cable modem back in fall 1998. It was pretty smokin back then, but I've heard as broadband usage increases the speed hasn't gotten much better. We run on dual t-1 's here at Blastro - that's a little better than 3Mbit/s symetric, or roughly 309KByte/sec. Where is all this going aside from me bragging about my t-1s?

Take a look around Roxwel and Blastro. The highest rate you can pick for a video is 300K, which stands for 300Kbit/sec. It looks pretty decent, but with increases in broadband quality and processing power, 300K just doesn't do it for me anymore. In the near future, we'll be rolling out 700K streams - full TV broadcast resolution, more than twice the data rate. There's just one question left.

Can your broadband handle it? The video embedded on this page is a 700K test stream of Lady Sovereign - Random. Give it a shot and let everyone know how fast your broadband is and if it measures up.

I'll start by saying it looks killer over my two t-1s.
