Get It: Sleigh Bells & Marco Benevento Release New Albums
Two albums dropped today that you should seriously consider scooping up. First, the beyond-buzzed electro-rock/noise pop duo and Brooklyn natives Sleigh Bells - comprised of Derek E. Miller (songwriter, guitarist, producer) and Alexis Krauss (vocals) - released their debut album Treats, exclusively through iTunes. Having garnered praise from the likes of Pitchfork Media and the New York Times, among others, Sleigh Bells is no stranger to drawing attention and crowds with recent performances at SXSW and Coachella. Additionally, they just wrapped up a tour opening for fellow Brooklyn-ites Yeasayer and are now trekking across the pond for a tour through the UK, the Netherlands, Spain and Belgium before playing Chicago's Pitchfork Music Festival on June 18.
Next up? Between the Needles and Nightfall is the third full-length studio album from Marco Benevento, Brooklyn-based (crazy, right?) pianist/composer and by-product of NYC's jazz and experimental music scene. Collaborating once again with bassist Reed Mathis (Tea Leaf Green) and drummer Andrew Barr (The Slip), Benevento plays his baby grand - customized with guitar pick-ups, amplifiers and pedals - like a mad scientist. And if you've ever seen him perform live, you know what I mean. In addition to his solo career, Benevento is also a member of Benevento/Russo Duo, Garage A Trois and Surprise Me Mr. Davis.
