    FCC

The FCC is now requiring commercial broadcasters to play a certain amount of "independently produced" music. The FCC hopes that this will help with the ongoing fight against 'payola' between major labels and commercial radio. Independent artists will be guaranteed some amount of airplay, which weakens the major label's ability to force feed their artists songs to radio listeners.
