Roxwel is lucky enough to be based in Austin, TX - the home of SXSW, one of the largest music festivals in the US particularly focused on rising new talent - and in the midst of SXSW chaos in March, we were able to catch up with some of your favorite artists from various genres to get some scoop of what they've been up to and how they're preparing to run things in 2011. Some of these guys have been in the game for years now and can share stories and words of wisdom, while some reveal the excitement of starting out in hopes of makin' it big!
'The Man In The Van With A Bass In His Hand,' Mike Watt, sits down for a little chat with us after performing his punk rock opera, "hyphenated-man," in its entirety. He's not the type of man you need to ask questions to; he just spiels - and we wanted to give that to you with little interruption. It's a brief, candid portrait of the punk rocker at middle-age, giving us context to his latest opera, the future and the past.
Hear more wise words from Mike Watt and some footage from the show in this interview.
