Muse is known for their energetic and extravagant live performances, and the band did not disappoint when they headlined at last year's Austin City Limits Music Festival.
Roxwel got a chance to get some scoop from Muse when host Toby Ryan sat down with Dom (and later Matt) to talk about touring, their new music and how the two first met in England.
Dom starts off by discussing their "amazing experience" in touring across the United States with a little band called U2, and shares how great it was to finally see them play live and witness how comfortable the group is in front of massive stadium crowds.
While the rocker claims that he "looks back with fond memories of playing sweaty little rock gigs" when they first started touring the U.S., the band puts a lot of effort into their live performances and really enjoy playing stadium shows.
Although they come from a tiny town in England, the ever-growing rock band was able to play a homecoming show in Teignmouth, Devon, a little more than a year ago. Dom tells us about a patch of grass where he and Matt met and became bandmates, so it was very special for the guys to be able to play at the spot in front of friends, family and fans. With closed off streets and tens of thousands of people ready to rock, the gig was such a success that the band is hoping to make it a tradition to turn the town into a Muse Fest more often!
Coming straight from seeing LCD Soundsytem, frontman Matt Bellamy joins the convo just in time for us to learn what he and Dom are going to do during their time off tour. The two have different styles of laying low, as Dom wants to do some skiing and snowboarding and Matt prefers to relax and soak up the sun in California.
To hear more from Muse drummer Dom about the band touring with U2, how he and Matt came to be bandmates and the possibility for a Muse Fest, check out this awesome interview from ACL 2010.
