In more festival news this week, the Wakarusa Music and Camping Festival, in a Lollapalooza-esque move, has changed locales, even states, for the 2009 event.  Say good-bye to Kansas, Wakarusans, and say hello to beautiful Mulberry Mountain in Ozark, Arkansas.  The festival will take place June 4 - 7, giving Bonnaroo a run for its money, especially with tickets starting at an unprecedented $79 - available December 11 - 31, so get 'em fast!

The festival lineup will be announced in January, but for an idea of past performers, check out the Wakarusa site.  Hmmm, wonder if Mulberry Mountain will get a Mulberry's Dream...what do you think?

    coldplay

Coldplay officially responded to Joe Satriani's allegations.  The following was posted to their website today:

"With the greatest possible respect to Joe Satriani, we have now unfortunately found it necessary to respond publicly to his allegations. If there are any similarities between our two pieces of music, they are entirely coincidental, and just as surprising to us as to him. Joe Satriani is a great musician, but he did not write or have any influence on the song Viva La Vida. We respectfully ask him to accept our assurances of this and wish him well with all future endeavours."

    Joe Satriani

Joe Satriani is suing Coldplay over their Grammy-nominated song "Viva La Vida," which he says copies "substantial original portions" from his "If I Could Fly," a love song written for his wife.  "I felt like a dagger went right through my heart.  It hurt so much," Satriani reportedly told MusicRadar.com of the moment when he first heard "Viva La Vida."  As of December 4, it will be up to a jury to decide if the song was ripped off or not.

    Tom Morello

Rage fans, don't hold your breath for a new studio album anytime soon.  According to Tom Morello, Rage Against the Machine guitarist, there is nothing in the works when it comes to recording.  However, he sees no reason to put a stop to touring across the globe, which seems to be working well for the band.  After a seven-year hiatus, Rage started throwing down on stages a year-and-a-half ago and was among the headliners at Lollapalooza 2008.

In the studio, Morello is focused on his alter-ego and solo act, The Nightwatchman, which is folk-based and politically inspired.
