Axl Rose fought with Slash from the first day Guns N' Roses formed.

A huge question mark hands over whether the vocalist and guitarist of the legendary 'Paradise City' rockers will put their differences aside to accept the band's induction to the Rock 'N' Roll Hall Of Fame in April next year, and while they haven't spoken since Slash left the band in 1996, Axl insists their disagreements go back much further.

He told the LA Times newspaper: "It was really a fight with me and Slash. [Second guitarist] Izzy was doing the same thing, but the fight with me and Slash started the day I met him.

"He came in, popped my tape out and put his in and wanted me in his band. And I didn't want to join his band. We've had that war since Day One."

Axl, 49, is the only original member of the band, but still tours with a new line up and plays the band's classic material from their 'Appetite for Destruction' and 'Use Your Illusion' albums, although he admits it took him a long time to get into the right mindset to do so.

He added: "It was hard to make myself want to do the old songs again. It was like, I wasn't going around my house dancing to 'Welcome to the Jungle'. To even figure out how to even make myself move to those songs - and how I was going to move to them - that was a big thing to figure out in 2006."

The notoriously volatile frontman has also fired two mangers within the last year, and accuses them of all of having the agenda of getting the old line up of the band together, rather than concentrating on where he wants to go next.

He said: "All these managers, they all believe in one thing: sell a reunion tour and get their commission. It's just a phone call. It's a half a day's... Work, or however long they want to keep the bidding war going. They get their commission and they don't care if it falls on its face."

Kanye West leads the Grammy Awards 2012 nominations with seven nods.

The rapper's single 'All of the Lights' is up for Song Of The Year, Best Rap/Sung Collaboration and Best Rap Song, while his track 'Otis' - with Jay-Z - picks up two nods in the Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song categories.

Kanye - who has picked up 14 trophies at the annual US music awards since 2005 - also has two nominations in the Best Rap Album category, for his 'My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy' record and his 'Watch the Throne' collaboration, a joint project with Jay-Z.

Adele and Foo Fighters follow with six nominations each, with the former picking up nods in some of the night's biggest categories, including Record Of The Year and Song of the Year for single 'Rolling in the Deep' and Album Of The Year for '21.'

Foo Fighters are nominated for Album Of The Year and Best Rock Album for 'Wasting Light,' Best Rock Performance for single 'Walk' and Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance, for 'White Limo.'

Bruno Mars' single 'Grenade' picked up three nominations, for Record Of The Year, Song Of The Year and Best Pop Solo Performance, while his 'Doo-Wops & Hooligans' album is up for Album Of The Year and Best Pop Vocal Album.

Rapper Lil Wayne also has five nominations, while indie-folk act Bon Iver earned four, including nods in two major categories, Record of the Year and Song of the Year for his single 'Holocene.'

Surprises of the nominations include a relatively low number of nods for two of the biggest selling artists of the year, Lady Gaga and [art]Taylor Swift[/art, who released their 'Born This Way' and 'Speak Now' albums respectively, but gained only three nominations each.

The 54th Annual Grammy Awards will take place at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on February 12th 2012.

  • Within the glowing concrete jungle that makes up the commercial center of Las Vegas, The Disco Biscuits somehow managed to create something of real substance at Mandalay Bay's House of Blues.  The show was intimate and creative - the kind that makes faces melt and blows the ever-loving minds of your Phish phanatic phriends who just got off the plane from Colorado.  And what's more is there couldn't have been more than a couple hundred fans at the last minute, late night - errr, morning - show that closed out an excellent Labor Day weekend.

Do yourself a favor, and pick up the soundboard.  Really.
