Lead video editor and camerawoman extraordinaire Nadia gives us her top ten favorite Roxwel-produced performance, interview and blog pieces of 2009. Click on the picture for a playlist of all 10:
1. Kristi Lee's Dirrty mouth - This one is one of my favorites of hers, we laugh a lot during the taping of these blogs and how can you not laugh when the main topic is about peeing on Gene Simmons' face!
2. Switchfoot UnCut - The Roxwel UnCut series has evolved over time on the production side of things and is one of my favorite things to shoot, this series and metal bands. This particular shoot was at The Parish in Austin, that day I met my woman crush. She runs the sound for The Parish and it never fails, everytime she is on board, the audio comes out wonderful!
3. Nico Vega Live Performance - My new favorite band is Nico Vega. That is one intense live show. If you get a chance, look them up and buy a ticket to see them live when they pass through your city. One of the best live shows, Aja is a beast on stage and has a phenomenal voice.
4. Staind UnCut - So back to that thing about our production evolving, this was one of the first vids I did with the pic in pic style and because of that, I love it. It was shot at the Austin Music Hall, which always has a killer light show.
5. Ida Maria Live Performance - Damn this woman is great live. You know when some performers get that extra raspy/cracky voice when they sing live? The good kind, not the bad kind. Ida Maria killed this show at Emo's, and turned me into a fan. I find myself loving live performance music better than cd's and this is one of those.
6. Coheed & Cambria ACL 09 - Fun times when bands call out their managers for not letting them do what they want. This time around, we got the manager on cam when Claudio called him out.
7. Glasvegas Lolla 09 - This has got to be one of the most inaudible bands I have ever met, it's not any easier in person either. I love this vid because I just can't understand them. I thought about putting subtitles on this one but I seriously couldn't understand them enough to put them up. The jacked up thing is their native language is ENGLISH!
8. Manchester Orchestra SXSW 09 - The first time I had ever heard of Manchester Orchestra's music was when I pressed the record button during this day party during sxsw 09. I went home that night and bought their last two albums!
9. Dead Confederate SXSW 09 - This year Roxwel had a SXSW party and we were able to get Dead Confederate again (they played a killer show for our party in 08), they once again killed it this year. The place was packed and everyone went home happy that night! Another band that I love to hear live rather than their cd. Great live show, great light show. Every time.
10. Scott Weiland - I had to put this one in there because it is so bad! But it's Scott Weiland! So bad. My favorite part of this is the hip gyrations done throughout!
Dennis and Matthew from Flogging Molly sit down with Toby Ryan to talk about the formation of the band, why they chose to make their traditional Irish Punk sound, playing in small venues compared to playing in large venues, signing onto a record label at the beginning of the band, becoming a successful band and playing shows where the point was to just have some fun and keeping the band as real as they can.
Roxwel's Toby Ryan sits down with Buckcherry's Keith Nelson Keith Nelson and talks about the band's latest record 'Black Butterfly', the story behind their 5 year hiatus, and their future touring plans. Also catch clips from their Belton, Texas performance of "Tired Of You", "Next 2 You", and "Broken Glass".
Roxwel catches up with one of the biggest bands this year---Kings of Leon.
In this exclusive piece brothers Caleb and Nathan sit down with Toby Ryan to discuss touring, the new album, how hot Kenny Rogers wife is, and in between all that live footage of the Kings of Leon show!

Alkaline Trio and Rise Against have been on tour together since the beginning of October. The night before the Austin, Texas show at Austin City Music Hall Rise Against had to cancel the show due to lead singer, Tim Mcllrath, losing his vocals. Alkaline Trio decided the show must go on! The band booked a last minute show at a small venue in Austin and sat down with Roxwel's Toby Ryan right before the show. Listen to Derek and Matt talk about how they are glad they are glad they moved forward with their careers, living on the road, releasing music, and some exclusive live footage!
Eagles Of Death Metal lead singer Jesse Hughes and Roxwel's Toby Ryan chat and about live performances, life, their new album "Heart On" and most of all rock & roll!! EODM album was released this week! The CD includes guest appearances from Homme's wife and Distillers frontwoman Brody Dalle, and Kat Von D, the tattoo artist on the "L.A. Ink" television series and Nikki Sixx's girlfriend.

The Ting Tings sit down with Roxwel's Toby Ryan and discuss the UK duo's touring schedule the past few months in the states, and how they're (recently) excited to get back in the studio. Watch close for the glimpse on Jules De Martino foot during interview when they' re talking about flip flops. It's not discussed in the video, but Jules just got a tattoo right before the shoot!
