Saundra Williams Gettin' Down Behind Trey

Not having gone to Festival 8 - and with U2 3D being the only time I've had the three-dimensional concert film experience - I was definitely into seeing Phish 3D.  And, overall, I was pretty impressed with the end product.  I'm sure there will be many bonus features when (if?) it comes out on DVD, but I definitely could've gone for more footage of the actual festival, crowd shots, and just commentary in general - from the band, fans, etc.

Nonetheless, my highlights include being kindly warned before the film to refrain from smoking pot in the theatre ("Not that any of you would...Ok, well, some of you would.") because apparently it had been an issue the night before (cray-zee Saturday nights!); seeing the band's setup so close that you could virtually touch it; acoustic performance of "Wilson" and Trey's banter on the whole sitting-down request beforehand;  Trey's goofy faces; Sharon Jones and Saundra Williams on vocals (Williams was TOTALLY feeling it...loved that!); "Loving Cup," "Suzy Greenberg" and clips from the practice sesh before the Halloween show.

It was definitely reminiscent of another time I spent with Phish, and what - at that time - was the most fun I'd ever had.  There was no ferris wheel or Balloon Burble then, but there was "The Superman," some really trippy art installations, and a chill vibe in a beautiful place shared amongst friends.
