Aerosmith are planning to mark their 40th anniversary by recording an "old-school" album.

The 'I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing' rockers are planning to put recent differences behind them - which has seen guitarist Joe Perry expressing his view that singer Steven Tyler shouldn't have accepted a job as a judge on 'American Idol' - and go back to the studio for an album which they are hoping to be reminiscent of their 70s heyday.

Drummer Joey Kramer said: "Yeah, we're going to make an album. I would like to see a record within a year from the Aerosmith boys.

"It's going to be an old-school Aerosmith record. We're going to do it the old way with the whole band in the same room and it should be a good one. We're all anticipating."

Joey - who stars in the band with Steven, Joe, guitarist Brad Whitford and bassist Tom Hamilton - said the group are all anxious to get back and start recording, since they haven't released any original material since the track 'The Grind' which was included on their album of covers 'Honkin' On A Bobo', released in 2004, which was their 14th album.

He added: "I'm anxious to get back in the studio and do a record. We haven't done a record in so long. I'm really looking forward to it. It's a nice project over the winter."
