Courtney Love has recently acquired the rights to Charles Cross' biography 'Heavier than Heaven ' which was written about her late husband Kurt Cobain. The plan is to make a movie based on the book. Ewan McGregor, who has prior acting experience playing a rockstar in 'Velvet Goldmine ', is rumored to be Love's number one choice for for the part of the Nirvana's famed lead singer.

Marilyn Manson announced his divorce to Dita Von Teese a couple of weeks ago. Sources close to Manson told PEOPLE magazine that he is now involved with 19 year old Evan Rachel Wood. The two met on the set of Manson's horror film, Phantasmagoria: The Visions of Lewis Carroll, soon after Wood posed in a watercolor painting for Manson. Friends of Dita have said that she is heartbroken about the news and that she never saw it coming.

Amy Lee of Evanescence recently announced her engagement to her boyfriend and therapist Josh. The two have been friends for years and started dating after Lee's breakup with former boyfriend Shaun Morgan of the band Seether, who Lee wrote the hit song "Call Me When Your Sober" about. Josh surprised Lee in Toronto with a traditional proposal on one knee.

The FCC is now requiring commercial broadcasters to play a certain amount of "independently produced" music. The FCC hopes that this will help with the ongoing fight against 'payola' between major labels and commercial radio. Independent artists will be guaranteed some amount of airplay, which weakens the major label's ability to force feed their artists songs to radio listeners.

Corey Taylor of Stone Sour and Slipknot has managed to achieve commercial success with both of his bands in 2006, an accomplishment that very few musicians have done. Stone Sour, originally a side project of Taylor's, will be his primary concern in 2007. Slipknot will be put on the back burner until 2008 when Taylor can devote time to writing new material.

After a busy 2006 for Fatboy Slim, and ringing in 2007 with an electrical shock at the Brighton Beach show, Slim has decided to take the rest of the year off except for a Disney project currently in the works. Slim is releasing very little information on the project, but we can expect an animated film.
