Q. How do I watch music videos?
A. You can download the free RealVideo player from the following Real.com web site:
http://proforma.real.com/real/player/player.html
Please be aware that Real.com heavily promotes the $29.95 Real Player Plus. The free player is listed on this site, but it is in very small print, and hard to find.
Q. Can I download music videos?
A. Our copyright agreements with the record labels prevent us from allowing people to download the videos. Our web site is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for you to enjoy all the videos you want. We can let you watch them all day long. We just can't redistribute or sell the videos.
Q. How often do you add new videos to your site?
A. We add videos on a daily basis, whether it's music videos, archives of the live shows, or our award-winning original programming, you are guarenteed to get fresh new video content from Roxwel.
Q. Why don't you have any music videos by (insert artist/band name here)?
A. We work with many record labels to get music videos programmed on Roxwel. Most are small independent labels putting out the best of underground music. Many of the major record labels have been reluctant to service internet sites. We will keep working on them to change their minds.
Q. How can I get my video on Roxwel?
A. Send a copy of your video in any of the following formats: DVD, mini-DV SP, or VHS to our programming director:
Jake Saxbe
Roxwel
609 W. 18th St
Suite C
Austin, TX 78701
All videos are reviewed for programming on Roxwel. If it passes screening, it will be programmed on Roxwel.
Q. How do I unsubscribe from the mailing list?
A. Send an email to jesse@Roxwel.com. In the subject put, unsubscribe. In the body put Unsubscribe (your email address here) and then send it. You will be removed from the list.
Real Media Player Help
Q. Real player does not embed in Netscape (if you have a similar problem with other browsers, go to the real support link above).
1. Start Netscape Communicator
2. Click Edit and choose Preferences
3. Double-click Navigator to expand the list
4. Select Applications
5. Scroll to see if the RealPlay File type is listed. If the file type is listed, select it and click the Edit button. If the file type is not listed, click the New Type button>
6. Enter the following information in the appropriate fields: Description of Type RealVideo File Extension .rpm MIME Type audio/x-pn-realaudio-plugin
7. For the Application to use, click the Browse button and locate the Realplay.exe program (default location is C:\Program Files\Real\Realplayer)
8. Click OK
Q. I received a "connection to the server failed", "could not connect to the server", or something similar.
A. Chances are we are experiencing heavy web traffic which is tying up our streaming server. Try to watch the video again later and it should be fine.
Q. Every time I try to open a video, it says that the file path is incorrect:
A. This can be caused by a number of problems. If every video you try to watch on our site returns this error, it is a temporary problem caused by our streaming server breaking down from excess usage. During regular business hours this should only take a few minutes to fix once we are aware of the problem, so check back soon and everything should work. On the other hand, if you only receive this error for one particular video, then it is possible that the video file has been corrupted and we would appreciate your feedback so we can fix it. Send it to
contact@blastro.com
Q. How do I improve the video image?:
A. There are a number of things that you can do. 1) Set your monitor to 16-bit (thousands) or 24-bit (millions) color. 2) Update the system's video driver regularly. 3) Close unnecessary applications on your computer. 4) Do not use the Zoom button on 28K or 56K bandwidth clips.
Q: My school or office has a firewall. How do I configure my Real Media Player so I can watch videos behind the firewall?
A: RealNetworks has detailed instructions for firewall configureation for each version of their players. Follow this link for more instructions:
