Swizz Beatz

Swizz Beatz videos

Swizz Beatz is one of the hottest producers in the rap game today. Born Kasseem Dean in The Bronx, New York City, Swizz Beatz got his start in the industry early in life, laying down the beat for DMX's hit single "Ruff Ryders Anthem" at age sixteen. Swizz Beatz - rumored to be able to hammer out a beat in under a half an hour from start to finish - has since clawed his way to the top of the production food chain, producing hits like T.I.'s "Front Back" and Busta Rhymes' "Touch It". You can hear the raw and energetic flow of a Swizz Beatz song coming from a mile away; his trademark cry of "Swizzy!" appears at the very beginning of virtually every track he's ever laid down.

Having earned his stripes in the industry behind the scenes, Swizz - like fellow beatsmith-turned-rapper Pharrell - is now eager to distinguish himself as a rapper. Though Swizz dabbled in rapping with a number of appearances alongside heavyweights like Jadakiss and Fat Joe on his 2002 compilation album Swizz Beatz Presents: G.H.E.T.T.O. Stories, his solo debut didn't begin in earnest until years later in 2007 when his first full-length album, One Man Band Man, hit store shelves. Competing with T.I.'s T.I. vs T.I.P. and UGK's UGK (Underground Kingz), One Man Band Man still managed a strong showing on the Billboard 200 chart, peaking respectably at #7 and moving nearly 50,000 copies in its first week on store shelves. Notable tracks from Swizz's debut include "It's Me Bitches" and "Money in the Bank".

Eager to follow up the success of his debut album, Swizz is planning on releasing a second studio album sometime in 2009. Currently set to be named Life After the Party (Remember Hip-Hop was another name considered), Swizz's sophomore album is set to include appearances by Mary J. Blige, 50 Cent, and John Legend. A handful of songs from Life After The Party have seen an early release so far, including "Where the Cash At?" and "That Oprah".
