With the explosion of popularity that indie rock has seen in the past few years (owing to the recent mainstream success of bands like the
Arctic Monkeys and
Franz Ferdinand), Spoon is just beginning to receive the commercial success they have always deserved. Their last two albums,
Gimmie Fiction (2005) and
Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga (2007), have made it to the 44th and 10th spot on the mainstream
Billboard 200 index respectively, while singles
"The Underdog",
"I Turn My Camera On", and
"Everything Hits At Once" have begun to receive radio play.
Though the band has not embarked on a major tour in some time (Britt has lived in Portland, Oregon since 2006), Spoon still regularly attends larger music festivals like
Austin City Limits and
SXSW. As of 2008, the Spoon’s latest release is the 8-song EP
Don’t You Evah, which includes six remixes of their latest single
"Don’t You Evah."
