After extensive touring throughout 2003 and a major lineup overhaul in 2004, the band finally returned to the studio to release their third major album
Lullabies to Paralyze in 2005. Though slightly less successful financially than its predecessor, the album still sold a respectable 97,000 copies in its first week.
Lullabies to Paralyze features a hard, distortion-heavy sound more reminiscent of the band’s earlier work, evident by tracks like
"Burn The Witch" and
"Little Sister".
Queens of the Stone Age released their most recent album
Era Vulgaris in mid-2007. Their most successful album since
Songs for the Deaf,
Era Vulgaris - latin for "common era" - has sold over 1,000,000 copies worldwide. Whereas
Songs for the Deaf was influenced by a tedious drive through the desert,
Era Vulgaris takes its inspiration from a drive down the glamorous-yet-gritty Hollywood strip. The album has so far produced three singles:
"Sick, Sick, Sick",
"3’s & 7’s", and
"Make It wit Chu".
