Alecia Beth Moore - better known by her stage name, Pink or P!nk - is a pop singer/songwriter from the United States. Born in Doylestown, Pennsylvania (a small town about 55 miles north of Philadelphia), Pink discovered her artistic ability at an early age, learning to sing and play guitar from her father. She joined a local band called Middleground while enrolled at Central Bucks West High School, though the band soon dissolved due to creative differences. She then joined an R&B trio called Choice that signed to L.A. Reid's LaFace Records (Ciara, TLC). Though Choice broke up after producing only one single ("Key to my Heart", which appeared on the soundtrack to basketball superstar Shaquille O'Neal's motion picture debut Kazaam in 1996), she retained her contract with LaFace Records as a solo artist, releasing her first solo album Can't Take Me Home on the label in early 2000.

Can't Take Me Home proved to be a successful debut, selling well over four million copies worldwide and earning Pink a double-platinum certification in the United States. Though definitely a pop album, Can't Take Me Home leaned toward an urban R&B sound, evident in tracks like "You Make Me Sick" and "Most Girls". The urban flavor of her debut was met with some criticism in the music press, leading Pink to pursue a more edgy rock-oriented sound for her second album, M!ssundastood, which hit store shelves a year later in 2001. Her most successful album to date, M!ssundastood peaked at #6 on the Billboard 200, moving a grand total of five million copies domestically. Recorded alongside her childhood idol Linda Perry (formerly of 4 Non Blondes), M!ssundastood produced a number of successful singles, among them "Get the Party Started" and "Just Like a Pill".

Pink's third album (2003's Try This) was rushed into production by her label and received a good deal of negative press as a result. Unhappy with the way the album turned out, Pink put her recording career on hold for a time to dabble in acting, appearing in the hit flicks Rollerball and Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle. Tensions between her and her label soon dissipated, however, leading Pink to return to the studio to begin working on her fourth album, 2006's I'm Not Dead. I'm Not Dead proved to be a return to form for the pop starlet, producing the hits "Stupid Girls" and "Who Knew", as well as the controversial single "U Ur Hand".
