Basking in the success off
All We Know is Falling, Paramore toured extensively throughout 2006, touring as the opening act for
The Rocket Summer as well as playing the entire
Vans Warped Tour circuit. In early 2007 - after receiving heaps of praise from major music magazines like
Kerrang! and
NME - Paramore once again returned to the studio to begin working on their second album,
Riot!, which saw a June 2007 release. Topping the considerable success of their debut album,
Riot! peaked at #15 on the
Billboard 200, eventually earning
Gold certification from the
RIAA and a
Grammy nod for
Best New Artist in 2008 - though the band lost that award to troubled English songstress
Amy Winehouse. Standout tracks from
Riot! include
"Misery Business",
"Crushcrushcrush", and
"That’s What You Get".
Paramore went through something of an internal crisis in 2008, canceling a few tour dates and going on a hiatus that only lasted a few weeks, much to the delight of the band’s legions of loyal fans. Paramore will continue to tour throughout 2008, and may begin working on a third album before the year’s end. Both Hayley and Josh have hinted that they may pursue an indie rock sound (citing
Mew and
The Arcade Fire as influences) for their third album, which they hope to release in summer 2009.
