Their last album Fables (Mint Records) is a series of vignettes about travelling. It was made with the help of esteemed colleagues such as producers Colin Stewart (Black Mountain, Pretty Girls Make Graves) and John Collins/Dave Carswell (New Pornographers, Tegan & Sara), violinist Owen Pallett (Final Fantasy, Arcade Fire), and back-up vocalists Alex Kapranos (Franz Ferdinand) and The Cribs. Fables was released June 2007 that included tours in North America and Europe.
Continuing their tradition of non-English non-album tracks, the single of "Won't Be Pretty" was accompanied by "Wo Xiang Tanbai" (????) a Mandarin Chinese version of the album's "Dear Confessor" with lyrics by a friend of the band. None of the members speak Chinese, and learned the words phonetically for the recording.
