An awesome little band from New Zealand which had a stellar first album (Last Exit To Garageland), featuring the radio-friendly Fingerpops and Beelines to Heaven back in the mid 90s, did some heavy touring, released a couple more albums (the last of which seems to have gone by largely without notice) before vanishing completely. Some have labelled them as New Zealand's answer to the Pixies if you buy into that sort of thing; that's a big call, but I just say they produced some damn fine music, and its sad they're gone now.
Garageland was an indie rock band on New Zealand's Flying Nun record label. Influenced by Pixies, Pavement, The Clean and The Velvet Underground, they were critically acclaimed in the UK and US for their well-crafted and catchy pop songs. Garageland took their name from a song by The Clash.
They re-formed for a one-off gig in Auckland in November 2007.[citation needed]
