Of African American and Dominican descent, rapper John Jackson, better known by his stage name Fabolous, is musically versatile and wildly successful. Born and raised in the Brooklyn area of New York City, he was one of the first east coast rappers to be influenced by the southern hip hop genre. He gained notoriety with his 2001 hit single Can't Deny it, from his debut album Ghetto Fabolous. Along with the southern hip hop vibe, Fabolous also employs elements of pop rap in his music, thus earning him comparisons to rappers such as Loon and Mase.

Fabolous decided that it was time for him to start taking his music seriously when Memphis Bleek officially signed to Roc-A-Fella Records. In early 1998, he would often call into DJ Clue’s popular New York radio show as a means to break out into the industry, eventually freestyling live and revealing his abundant talent. DJ Clue immediately signed him to his recently formed record company, Desert Storm Records. Fabolous's modest beginnings with this company involved being featured on several DJ Clue mix tapes and other mix tapes with Roc-A-Fella artists. This eventually lead to a generous distribution deal with Elektra records, which in 2001 began to promote Fabolous and released his debut album, Ghetto Fabolous.

Since then, Faboluos has released three additional albums: Street Dreams, Real Talk and From Nothin' to Somethin'. He has worked with artists such as Lil' Wayne, Swizz Beats, Young Jeezy, and Nate Dogg and has had a number of his songs chart in the Billboard Hot 100 list. These include tracks such as Can't Deny It, Ambitionz as a Ridah (a Tupac cover), and Baby. So Into You, off the album Street Dreams even reached number four on the Billboard Hot 100. Fabolous continues to create music and is now working on his clothing line, Rich Yung Society Clothing.
