Benny Benassi was born in Milan, Italy in 1967. Though his given first name is Marco, he prefers the nickname Benny for his musical releases. Benny began working independently as a disc jockey along with his cousin Alle Benassi in the late 1980’s before going joining legendary Italian producer Larry Pignagmnoli’s Off Limits studio. Though he produced music for other acts throughout the 1990’s (Whigfield, Ally & Jo), he began to release his own music in the early 2000’s. His musical style retains elements of house interspersed with more minimalist electro and techno vibes. His style is well respected amongst his peers, receiving praise from Paul Oakenfold, Boy George, and Timo Maas.

He released his first album Hypnotica on New York-based independent label Ultra Records in 2003. The album was produced with musical duo The Biz, consisting of singersPaul French and Violeta. Hypnotica’s lo-fi, sexualized approach to dance music proved immensely successful when the album’s first single, "Satisfaction", reached the top spot on dance charts in England, France, and Germany. "Satisfaction's" massive popularity was aided by its equally successful music video, which features a number of scantily-clad women suggestively operating power tools.

Benny released his next two albums Pumphonia (2004) and …Phobia (2005) alongside his cousin Alle, with the group billing themselves as the Benassi Bros. Their work retains the down tempo asthetic of Benny’s earlier solo album, evident when listening to singles like "Hit My Heart", "Illusion", and "Make Me Feel". During this time in his career Benny also formed a record label, Pump-Kin Music, which focuses on giving exposure to up-and-coming DJ’s and producers worldwide.

His most recent album Rock ‘n’ Rave is slated for an early May 2008 release. The album’s first confirmed single will be "I Am Not Drunk", to be released soon after the record. Rock ‘n’ Rave will also feature a remix of his earlier single "Who’s Your Daddy", which features an erotic music video stylistically similar to "Satisfaction".

Marco Benassi, better known as Benny Benassi (born in Milan, 13 July 1967) is an Italian disc jockey and a euro house/electroclash artist.

He usually works in studio with cousin Alle Benassi. The two also produce tracks together under the name Benassi Bros. The duo started DJing in the late 80s in their hometown, before moving to Larry Pignagnoli's Off Limits production studio in the mid 90s, creating music for various acts, including Whigfield, J.K. and Ally & Jo.

His first big international hit was I Feel So Fine, released as KMC with vocals by Dhany in 2001. After moving from eurohouse to electro, he had another successful hit single "Satisfaction" in 2003 and 2004. This reached Number 2 on the OCC UK Top 75 chart after the Ministry of Sound record company replaced the original video (an almost still picture of the band overlayed with graphics) with a video of models using power tools. Some of his singles have charted high in the United Kingdom and have been played world-wide in clubs. Benassi also remixes the music of his contemporaries, such as DJ Tomcraft and Fischerspooner.

Recently, Benny created a record label known as Pump-Kin Music. The focus of the label is primarily new and unsigned producers. Through this venture, he hopes to give exposure to some of the lesser known DJ/production talent across the world.
