“To witness a performance by Anthony da Costa is akin to being invited into a friend’s living room. He’ll pull out a guitar, then casually say, ‘I wrote this song because I was thinking of…’, then proceed to share a work of art.” Richard Cuccaro, Acoustic Live

2008 has been great so far for Anthony da Costa. The 17-year-old, performing songwriter from Pleasantville, NY: released his sixth record, Typical American Tragedy; guested on Amy Speace’s upcoming CD; opened for Livingston Taylor and Susan Werner; was profiled in The New York Times; was nominated as the 2007 Folk Alliance Emerging Artist of the Year; and recorded his seventh record with his duo partner, Abbie Gardner of Red Molly—Bad Nights, Better Days—in three days. 2007 wasn’t half-bad, either. Anthony was the youngest winner ever of the Kerrville Folk Festival's New Folk and the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival’s Emerging Artist Competitions (garnering 40 percent of the "vote" at Falcon Ridge). He formally showcased at the Tin Pan South Songwriters Festival in Nashville and was a Mountain Stage NewSong finalist.

Anthony’s writing and performing draw from a deep well of rich musical influences—from Bob Dylan and Dan Bern, to Gillian Welch and Dave Rawlings, to Ryan Adams and Damien Rice. A prolific songwriter and self-taught, multi-instrumentalist, Anthony is a strict adherent to Zimmerman’s Theory of the Never-Ending Tour, playing perpetually at festivals, theaters, clubs and coffee houses...everywhere.

It?s obvious he will be leading a new generation of singer/songwriters in the near future.?
