Phosphorescent is the solo project of Matthew Houck, an artist based in Brooklyn, New York. To date, Houck has released five full-length albums as Phosphorescent: Here's to Taking It Easy (2010), To Willie (2009), Pride (2007), Aw Come, Aw Wry (2005), and A Hundred Times or More 2003.
Before 2003 Houk recorded and toured under the name of Fillup Shack.
Phosphorescent, fronted by Matthew Houck, is an indie folk/alt country band that is often compared to Iron and Wine, Will Oldham, and Neil Young. Phosphorescent currently resides in Brooklyn, New York (formerly of Athens, Georgia) and is signed to independent label Dead Oceans.
